Placely is a platform in active development. These terms reflect our current operating practices and will be updated as the platform grows.

Placely is a platform designed to connect students with employers offering work experience, internships, placement years, volunteering opportunities and other early career experiences.

These Terms & Conditions explain the rules for using Placely. By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these terms.

1. Using Placely

You agree to use Placely honestly, responsibly and in accordance with all applicable laws.

You must not:

  • Provide false or misleading information.
  • Impersonate another person or organisation.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to another account.
  • Upload malicious software or harmful files.
  • Use automated software or bots to access the platform without permission.
  • Misuse the messaging system or send spam.
  • Harass, threaten or abuse other users.

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently remove accounts that breach these terms.

2. Student Accounts

Students are responsible for ensuring that:

  • Their profile information is accurate.
  • Their CV is up to date.
  • Any qualifications or achievements listed are truthful.
  • Personal statements are their own work.

Submitting false information may result in account suspension or removal.

3. Company Accounts

Companies using Placely agree to:

  • Advertise genuine opportunities.
  • Provide accurate placement information.
  • Communicate professionally with applicants.
  • Handle applicant information responsibly.
  • Only request information relevant to the recruitment process.

Placely may remove placements or suspend company accounts that breach these requirements.

4. Applications

When you apply for a placement, you understand that the information you submit may include:

  • Your name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • CV
  • Personal statement
  • Other requested application documents

This information will only be shared with the company advertising the placement.

Once an application has been viewed or downloaded by a company, withdrawing it from Placely may not remove copies already obtained by that company.

5. Uploaded Content

You retain ownership of all documents and content you upload.

By uploading content, you grant Placely permission to:

  • Securely store your documents.
  • Display them to employers you choose to apply to.
  • Process them as necessary to operate the platform.

Do not upload unnecessary sensitive personal information beyond what is required for your application.

6. Messaging

Placely may provide messaging between students and companies. Users must communicate respectfully and professionally.

Messages must not contain:

  • Offensive or abusive language.
  • Spam.
  • Fraudulent information.
  • Malicious links or files.

Placely reserves the right to investigate misuse of the messaging system.

7. Placement Decisions

Placely provides a platform connecting students and employers. Placely does not:

  • Guarantee interviews.
  • Guarantee placement offers.
  • Guarantee placement quality.
  • Influence employer recruitment decisions.

All recruitment decisions remain the responsibility of the employer.

8. Availability

We aim to provide a reliable service but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability. Maintenance, updates or technical issues may occasionally make parts of the platform unavailable. Placely is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

9. Intellectual Property

The Placely platform, branding, logos, designs and software remain the intellectual property of Placely unless otherwise stated. Users may not copy, redistribute or commercially exploit any part of the platform without permission.

10. Account Suspension

Placely may suspend or remove accounts that:

  • Violate these Terms.
  • Abuse other users.
  • Attempt to compromise platform security.
  • Submit fraudulent information.
  • Upload harmful content.

Serious breaches may result in permanent removal without prior notice.

11. Limitation of Liability

While we take reasonable care in operating Placely, we are not responsible for:

  • The conduct of employers.
  • The conduct of students.
  • Decisions made during recruitment.
  • Losses resulting from inaccurate information submitted by users.
  • Temporary service interruptions.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where such exclusion is not permitted by law.

12. Changes to These Terms

Placely may update these Terms & Conditions as the platform develops. Where significant changes are made, we will make reasonable efforts to notify registered users. Continued use of Placely after updated Terms are published constitutes acceptance of those changes.

Development Notice — Placely is currently an independently developed platform created by a student and remains under active development. Although reasonable measures are taken to protect user data and maintain platform security, new features are continually being added and improved. Users should only upload information necessary for placement applications and should avoid including unnecessary sensitive personal information.
